Adam (Aatami) Matinpoika Karjalainen 1820 – 1876
The father of Anna Bethulia Karjalainen,
Aatami, was born and lived his whole life in Juuka, on the shores of Lake Pielisjärvi in North Karelia.
He was married to Karoliina Tahvontytär Itkonen.
Photography had only begun to gain importance in the 1860s when it became possible to print photographs
from glass negatives onto paper.
